Parts of the movie where inspired from movies such as Telugu blockbuster Chatrapathi and Malayalam superhit Vettam. The film opened to Indian audiences after several delays, on 3 May 2008 to mixed reviews.The movie was dubbed into Telugu as Dopidi, Hindi as Jo Jeeta Wohi Baazigar. and Malayalam with the same title. The movie did above average at the box office.
